     In August 2011, the LaGrange-based Southern Center for Orthopedics joined Emory Specialty Associates (ESA) effectively becoming “Emory Southern Orthopedics Sports Medicine.” The four-physician Orthopedic practice provides high quality comprehensive – injury to recovery – care in the field of orthopedic surgery and musculoskeletal medicine.

     Emory Speciality Associates was formed in 2006 as Emory Healthcare’s outreach physician practice organization, managed by The Emory Clinic. It houses specialty divisions of primary care, cardiology, orthopedics, and hospital based specialties such as anesthesiology, pathology, and emergency medicine. Emory Healthcare is the largest, most comprehensive health care system in Georgia, providing in 2010 more than 2.8 million outpatient services and 55,000 hospital in-patient admissions. Encompassing The Emory Clinic, Emory-Children’s Center, Emory University Hospital, Emory University Hospital Midtown, Wesley Woods Center, Emory University Orthopedics & Spine Hospital and Emory Johns Creek Hospital, Emory Healthcare services more than 1,400 licensed beds and employs approximately 12,000 individuals.
